Just because the probabilities of a bolt snapping a hanger and a draw auto-detaching from a ringbolt might be the same, it doesn't follow that snapping hangers are not an argument against carrots -- way too many negatives in that sentence -- snapping hangers *are* an argument against carrots. Those two probabilities multiply each other, they don't cancel each other out. If you eliminate one of those factors, you just improved the overall safety of your system. I'd say that's an acceptable kind of safetyfication. Numptyproofing, on the other hand, is a whole other argument.
