i paid for, use and swear by them: less fatigue and more concentration on belaying - tendency to be LESS affected by distractions going on at the base (noise and visual). claimed extension of benefits into the multi-pitch arena i'm far less convinced of, its just another clusterfcuk item to me, but whatever floats your boat. as for expense, these are geeky, unfashionable items and hence there's NO way to justify a price premium - manufacture them elsewhere, drop the price to less than $10 and eliminate resellers :)
