Tell me about it. I learned this one the hard way. When I'm putting in pro, if at all possible I like to try identify where the route goes next (or where you next bit of gear is) so you can think about how the forces will be acting if:
- you fall on this bit of gear on the way to your next bit
- you fall on the next bit of gear and this bit gets pulled sideways as the rope goes tight because your draw isn't long enough
- you fall once you're past the next bit of gear and it pops so you get a combination of the above 2 one after the other |
