don't risk it - it will work sometimes, but it will fail most of the time. In the example of your photo, the lever arm of the threaded part will bend. Additionally, a lot of force will be concentrated on the flat point. It is assumed that the corner of the clamp to the left of '1420' is where the quick-draw will clip to.
The weakest part of the system will be the inside corner of the flat circle at the base of the threaded arm.
These clamps use scrap timber on either side of your job to disperse the force further afield. But you knew this already. |
