Thumb grip is fine. It's moulded to the general shape of a thumb, so feel good to hold. Quite similar to the shape of the thumb position on a C4 (though the dragon thumb grip is metal). WC Friend thumb grip is a bit horrid by comparison. There has been a lot of discussion about the lack of thumb loop. Some people love thumb loops, and others aren't too bothered. Personally I don't miss a thumb loop, but as I've only got one C4, I've never depended on a loop in the past.
