I don't think those supporting beams will take the load because the load is sideways on them and if it is a verandah then likely they are just spacers, keeping the main veranda supporting beams an appropriate distance apart.

Here's a diagram of the wall I built in our carport in Christchurch.

The beauty of this design is that it doesn't require bolting into the house at all. It is self contained and is simply LEANING, pushing down and across at point A and only across at C via B (maybe a little bit down at C because of it's own weight, hence the weaker vertical supporting beam but this doesn't need to be much unless you want to start climbing on the roof section).

It doesn't fall down because connection B is strong enough that the two thick beams (A-B and B-C) are too long together to invert themselves.

To apply this to your verandah, you could simply turn your whole wall around so that it is facing INTO the house, instead of out. That makes point C your house which, unless it's a REALLY old building, isn't going to be pushed over. Point A is at floor level on the outside edge of your verandah, and if there isn't anything there already (like the base of a post) you can just nail a block down.
