Hey Neil,

I do agree, but I know how my post sounded. We are buying the car from someone who has to leave Melbourne tomorrow, and so are getting the car at a very significantly reduced price, so hopefully it will be a little more solid than you might expect from a two thousand dollar car. My partner is very handy at keeping cars servicable, and I like staying alive as much as the next person (actually probably more, when you compare the night-time attire and bike lighting of someone like myself to the majority of people I see riding at night, they are significantly underlit/underreflective).

The seller has just had a mechanic check over the car before he is selling it, and it was given the all-clear. I promise that if the lights don't work we won't drive, that we will check the tyres and brakes regularly, and that we will do our utmost to ensure our car doesn't kill anyone!

I think I just had the biggest guilt trip I may have had in a long, long time.
