I am going to buy a diesel 1989 Mitsubishi l300 van this afternoon for $2k. Turns out it has WA registration, which is pretty awesome because you don't actually need a WA license or address to register a car over there, and they are about half as cheap as any other state. They must be making a killing out of dodgy backpackers and people like me :) They also don't seem to inspect a vehicle at any stage as long as it remains registered. Yay! Now we just have to work out how we are going to be able to afford petrol to get to the crags while still being able to pay our rent, the joys of being a couple of broke students living in a big city.
