I believe 12kN is the maximum impact force that can be taken by a human without serious injury. Apparently under the UIAA testing, if a double rope is tested in a twin situation (i.e. two strands), it can give impact forces over 13.5kN.
Also remember the impact force is not only on you, but also on the gear you place/bolts you clip. It makes sense to me to try and minimise this. |
