I know the manufacturers don't recommend it for anything other then on a fixed line so i would say it
shouldn't be used in any other configuration for solo aiding.
It is designed to be used with a shock absorber. the shock absorber is designed to deploy after a
factor 2 fall with a 100kg weight.
The retail cost for the units is quite high $359.
>belayslave, do you work in the high access industry?
I have previously worked in high access but don't anymore. i'm just a gear freak who likes an efficient
setup.

Yeah, perhaps a little overkill, but it's what i feel safe using so that's what i'll use. Seems strange
when i'm more then happy to lead on a single rope!

I've wondered about this and will post again after i've used it more to let you know how it goes.

What kind of drawbacks have you noticed Josh?

My setup is very similar to a twin rope standard high access rig. I'm attached to my 'working' line
short with a mini-traxion (looked at rescue-cender and may get one eventually to replace mini-traxion),
on the backup line i have the ASAP with the absorber. Don't see any difference to my use compared
to in rope access.

As Josh wrote, it's all about personal choice. i feel happy with my setup, but welcome critique
to help refine it. |
