The ASAP is great for rope access, it has many advantages over a shunt etc if you're doing very straight forward up&down drops... it has it's drawbacks though, even in that application. Personally I wouldn't use it as a top roping or rope-soloing device but I haven't got any real facts on hand to back up my sentiments.
