Another factor to consider is the "quality of light" (colour temp/spectrum, polarisation/ dispersion in addition to "Raw Candlepower") = Although LEDs are more efficient & have a "longer shine time" for a given voltage drop off profile they don't provide the same degree of contrast as Halogen Bulbs. This can result in poor "edge resolution" when navigating complex textured surfaces (rock, scree, bogs etc). Thus the "Hybrid" lamps tend have the best of both worlds . (I use a mix of Halogen only & Hybrid Lamps) Steve :-)
