hello all forum contributors and judges of morality,
let it be known i m no theif. The draw in question was handed to me on a day at the glen. i have been waiting for someone to post a a thread about bout this lost piece of equipment but it never came.
i electively chose not to start a thread about having found it because;
1. the owner would / should ask for its return if they actually cared for and looked after their equipment
2. i didn't want a whole heap of 'owners' claiming right of ownership to the draw and having to decipher if they actually were the rightful owner of the quickdraw. i know that there are 'some' climbers who are economically shallenged and would see this as an opportunity for 'bounty'.

as poimted out by Linze, the quickdraw is a piece of crap and i wouldn't even lower of a haul bag off it and it is a very shabby piece of gear. i just threw it into the back of my car and thought that if it is worth significance to the owner, they would ask for it on either Chockstone or Crag X.

2 months has since past, and it still sits in my car.
i have enough gear to climb without the need to 'steal' from others. moreso, i'm not stupid enough to climb on gear that i have no knowledge of its history.
when Porkpie notified me of this thread i immediately contacted linze withe the following message.

hi Linze,
i suspect i have your quickdraw. i have an old very loved one that sounds like the description you have given.
i was climbing over near junket pumper on a monday 14th September.
a group of walkers came through and handed us a a quickdraw they had picked up.
it has been in the back of my car since then. if you can give me an address i'll post it to you.
i was waiting for someone to ask on a forum about it but it never came around. (Until now)

sorry if this has caused you any distress,
Gavin (Ronald Biggs)

i sent linze this message on the 18th november, which still hasn't been read. i am still waiting for his / her reply to return the draw.

i was given the draw by a random stranger who picked it up off the ground. no mention of a poncho was noted, i did not purposely climb a route to remove the draw for my own keeping.

i did not accept the draw for addition to my climbing gear, as i have over the last 15 years amassed enough to accomodate my climbing needs.

for those who think i have / am immoral for accepting the draw, i personnally dont feel that i need to justify my actions to you, however i do want to stress the fact to Linze that i have his draw and will send it to him free of charge wherever that may be.

Summit Slag, if you feel it neccessary, please send me a personal message and i will give you my phone number or orgainse a a meeting so that you can to convey your disgust in my actions and i will gladly listen to you. rather than stand behind anonnimity and cast opinions / dispersions without knowing really what has occurred.
