i think those are split shaft button-heads, not rivets. The rivets people talk about in
yosemite are scary machine bolts driven into shallow holes. You can still find these little
quarter inch button heads on a lot of Tuolumne slabs. Not really inspiring, but apparently
bomber.
check out the photo here of one that was 1/8 inch in the rock,..

edit: err, the way I wrote that was confusing, the link goes to a photo of a rivet, not a
button head.
Rivet = body wieght aid placement when you don't have the balls to use a bat hook
Split shaft button head - scary old slab pro, sometimes still safe!
