I have the same set-up as ant and have used it with my Invernos/Vegas for Blue Lake and climbing from Pioneer Hut. Worked really well and even managed to do some OK turns in them with the Vegas. I have a velcro strap that I put around the upper part of the boot to minimise ankle movement while skiiing.
In terms of length, the current version of the 500s come in 3 lengths, based on boot size. If you look around you might find 2nd sets of the older version fairly cheaply. I got mine off a NZ gear site. |
