Climbing with fractured big toe |

In 1984 I was riding my motorcycle along the Great West Road (London) on a cold Wednesday afternoon. Next thing I know I wake up in hospital with my left foot being cut out of a motorcyle boot. I had bounced down the outside of a truck and finished under it. My L big toe and other assorted bones in my L foot and ankle were broken.
28 years later I have moderate to severe arthritis in my L big toe and had the further joyous news fairly recently that it looks like I have arthritis under the ball of that foot.
Climbing of course, puts a great deal of pressure/focus on your feet and toes, so (from personal experience) I would say that these are bits of your body that you need to take care of. I manage my situation reasonably effectively, but, if I could turn back time, then I would choose not to have to deal with this legacy issue.
So - bottom line - you might not want to hear this, but you should LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. You say your toe 'hurts pretty bad'. What do you think that is saying to you? If you think your big toe is broken, then you should take medical advice and rest as necessary.
I rest my case.
