You may have a point. However, I think when someone dies tragically its different.

For example, a friend of mine commit suicide by gasing themselves in their car by a creek in the middle of nowhere. Trying to reason why he did it, I went to that spot where he died and put myself in his shoes. The place certainly had an eerie feeling and had a strong effect on me. If I had flowers I'm sure I would have left them.
