ego damage from a rescue is far better than a spinal/tib-fib/pelvic/jaw injuries that a mate of mine suffered on the same cliff a number of years ago. he was out of work [climb guiding] for 18 months and in the process tied up 2 helicopter and 3 ambulance crews, the ses and heaps of locals. So i commend them on letting go of their pride and calling for help before there was a serious injury/death to deal with.
