For a simple rib fracture, its not even worth the doseage of radiation for an x-ray, as it does not alter the management. Painkillers, or c--ktails...which ever is more effective! Strapping of rib fractures can reduce ventilation of the lungs, potentially resulting in pneumonia...so obviously not recommended!
