Sounds like a finger pulley injury. Where is the pain, and how long ago was the injury? The most common one is the A2, which is towards the base of your finger. It is possible that it is just a strain, but you can certainly rupture these pulleys. There is normally acute pain and swelling associated with this injury. You need specialist knowledge of hands/fingers to diagnose the injury, so your GP may refer you on to a hand and upper limb orthopaedic surgeon.
