Chockstone recently reported on an accident at Mt Abrupt to American climber Paul Bailey.

His family have set up a website here, http://paulbaileyinfo.blogspot.com/ to show Paul's progress and to ask for any donations to help his ever growing medical bill.

If anyone met Paul at Arapiles or elsewhere and wishes to visit, he is still at the Alfred Hospital and I believe his family would appreciate the support and stories.

Climbing is a dangerous hobby, all climbers know this. Paul was very experienced and very safe, but still these accidents will happen. Many of us have stories of near misses. Maybe it's mere luck and chance...In any case, I think we can all relate.

On a seperate note, people should make themselves aware of 'seating' a nut with too much force. Many of us will have experienced the shock of pulling a nut down and losing balance as it shoots through...
