Hey there Brett,

I know people from emmergency services (which I can't mention for obvious reasons), that attended the scene). They were extremely distressed from the access to the your friend and took 1 and a half hours to hike in with their gear due to the extreme torain. Coming from the area I know that this would be an extremly hard job to do when you don't climb as a sport. So I know that no time would have been wasted in attending the scene and also due to the thick scrub the helicopter had trouble spotting you friend also. Your right he is in Melbourne at the Alfred hospital which is the best in the state also has fractured both wrists and possible spinal injuries. Alfred hospital phone :(+61 3) 9076 2000
