Its their call, but if it leads to them having a perspective of bolting everything regardless of potential for trad climbing, or potentially retrobolting stuff, then ultimately it does affect the rest of us. Personally, I like trad. I climb harder and faster on bolted stuff, but if people bolt un-necessarily it destroys climbs for other people. Yes, perhaps they found the new route first. Yes, perhaps they could easily climb it if there are bolts along the route. But once those bolts are placed, the rock is permanently scarred. In the same way as people claim free ascents over aided ascents, folk who are held back by personal limitations should accept them rather than bending the world to suite themselves at other peoples loss.

edit: had forgotten the thread, in this case sounds like it was a fair call for the bolts as they are.
