My suggestion, which won't hurt anyway if it's wrong.... sometimes pain in the hands and wrists can be caused by pinching of nerves further up the arm, which may have been triggered by the banister incident. I would take an anti-inflammatory such as Nurofen for a couple of days, and have some kind person massage your shoulder and the muscles at the top of your arm, especially from around the top of the bicep, around the outside of the arm to where the muscle from the top of the shoulder joins on to the arm, around the rear to the top of the tricep. Stretch your arms out behind you and open up the shoulders, for example by clasping your fingers behind your back with straight arms and pushing back your shoulders. Then massage the muscles at the top of the forearm near the elbow, these get especially tight if you do a lot of typing. Lastly finish by pressing your fingers of your left hand against those of your right to get a good stretch through your palm and wrists. Rest your whole arm for a couple of days aside from the stretching. Still sore, maybe see a physio! |
