I get what feels like a shot of adrenalin continuosly waking me up for half the night if I dont have a few drinks a chat for a while and then read a book for half an hour when I play underwater hockey late at night. It feels like my brain isnt at all tired and my body is ready to collapse in the gutter.
Protein works by the way. No doubt, But not as well for endurance activities like trad climbing as compared to power activities like bouldering. There is protein in all your food like chicken soy etc and then there is protein Isolate. Your body accepts protein most effeciently for the first 20 mins after training. Hence H.B running home for his egg nog. After that it starts hunting out carbs for refuelling the muscles. Protein Isolate is pure protein broken down into its most basic chemical structures. This basicness (is that a real word?) makes it easier for your body to absorb as much protein as it can in that first 20 mins. Its like beer being compared to water, sure theres water in that stubby but theres a lot of other things in it that your body doesn't particularly want when your thirsty.
