Agree that the inverted U is extremely useful in many contexts, although i'm not sure how useful it is if you run into trouble in the mountains. In these kinds situations you are probably already exhausted and possibly extremely anxious. You don't need further "arousal" (christ that word is very wrong).

Although often you will not be anxious at all if you are completely exhausted.

My number 1 rule in these situations is to do your best avoid negativity. You can't do anything constructive with negative talk or thought (geez I'm sounding like a scientoligist here!).

And i tend to think abusing people is more often than not, a negative approach to take.

But as i said before, i think there are big individual differences and it may work for some.
