Don't use a biner if I'm going up. I don't personally have a problem trusting a simple bowline under load in terms of strength. I do have trust in the strength of the rope as well. I think rope failure happens more in places where it goes through a biner or rock edge. I'm just not willing to stake other peoples lifes on my information, dispite my experience in these knots. The reason we have many different knots, is that each one has different applications. Knowlege is how to tie them, and what application it is suited to. |
