would imagine it would have been not unlike "Off The Road" by Carolyn Cassidy (widow of Neal Cassidy, Jack Kerouac's buddy and muse) if you substitute hitch-hiking, substance illuminated beatniks for climbers.

i have great respect for people who have large gaps in their climbing because of "family commitments". they love others more than themselves.

i have respect for those who don't start families. they (maybe) realize that they will always take more than they give (or potential significant others have noticeed this).

hooray for the espoused who do it together.

and m9 i do not want to die just yet (i know i spend less time placing pro than you, but that doesn't mean that i have a death wish, it just means that i am of "the leader never falls" school, and that i am not an aid climber (yet))

there are many ways to die.

billy snedden did well in that area (although his 'friend' may not have enjoyed the experience as much). he was not setting out to die at that particular juncture, but, what a way to go!
