There was a hilarious news segment showing these guys in NZ.

The rescued aussies were raving about how they were lucky they were well prepared and had appropriate equipment.

The next interveiw was with an NZ mountain guide involved with the rescue. saying it was unfortunate that these climbers didnt have appropriate equipment and preparation.

These Idiots are lucky to be alive and were foolish traveling in that terrain at this time of year without the appropriate equipment which would of at a minimum included, (for each person) shovel, probe, tranceiver, snow shoes or skis and skins, etc..

The rumours are they had no snow shoes or skis and had one shovel between them.

no matter how expereinced aussies are in the backcountry in australia it does not prepare them for real mountain conditions that you get in NZ and OS.
