Hi Andrew. I experienced similar symptoms as yourself many years ago and made my own home-made orthotics from an old ground mat and electrical tape. They were a great relief. But then oneday ,I bought a pair of generic orthotics from the chemist and they worked even better. After a few years though I had severe symptoms return so went to a podiatrist and she fitted custom orthotics which I still wear today and they actually added another 50'000km to my hoof life and made walking and running comfortable and pleasurable again. A podiatrist might be a bit hexy on the coin but a very worthwhile investment to consider. And tell me - do you ride a sport bike ? Of all the sport training I've done includeing boxing, I reckon the thing that most agravated soar feet was a lot of K's on a head down arse up sport bike where ya feet on the pegs sought of roll in causing strange stress factors. But as any joint, tendon complaint can be complex, I'd realy suggest the podiatrist. Good luck with it.
