I agree with vwills - patients get transferred between states all the time. It seems silly that Allison is gonna be stuck in Melbourne for another month. With her injuries she’d probably be able to go on a commercial flight with a nurse escort - which is not too hard to organise. You should tell Allison or Steve to talk to the discharge coordinator or the CNC and see if they could organise a transfer. I'm sure transferring Allison would be cheaper for the hospital than treating her for another month.
We’ve transferred people with tracheostomies, broken pelvises and serious brain injuries not just interstate but even to Korea and Germany! It’s really not that hard to organise.
Oh and btw vwills – our surgeons still call themselves Misters – and they still wear white coats!
