I agree that there's an enormous amount of new research about DCS and related issues. If & when that research coalesces into generally agreed new guidelines, I'll be happy to promote those guidelines. But until that happens, I'll continue promoting the previous ones. Ordinary divers can research these matters, as best they can, & decide whatever they want. But prudent instructors, teaching new students, do not have that latitude.

Please review the definition of "predisposing factor". Alcohol is a predisposing factor to road accidents. This is not contradtcied by the fact that many drunk drivers do not have an accident.
