As you would know from basic scuba training, joint pain is certainly a symptom of possible decompression sickness. And DCS can occur even when diving well within the depth/time limits of the dive tables. None the less, it is unlikely that DCS is the cause of your problem in my opinion.

I recommend calling the Divers Emergency Service on 008 088 200 to discuss your symptoms. This is a free, 24 hours/day service that links you to a hyperbaric specialist. I've called it myself on several occasions over the years, when I thought I might be bent. They're really good guys, they're happy to discuss any diving related problems with anyone at any time. It need not be an immediate life-threatening emergency. Just ring the number and say you need some advice.

The suggestion to start using nitrox is a really *BAD* suggestion unless you have been trained in its use. One dive beyond the MOD of a nitrox mix, could easily be your last recreational activity - ever!

I've been diving for 20 years (PADI Master Instructor for 9) and climbing for 10. I have one scuba related medical problem (notch deafness), but no finger issues so far. However, I no longer dive and climb on the same day, because I feel that is unneccessarily provocative for DCS.
