I was advised by a circus trapeze performer that the Mg would soften tissue, increasing blood flow and also make it easier to stretch and get in deep with massage. You could also just soak in a bath of epsom salts (available in 20kg bags from rural supply stores) for a much cheaper alternative to buying the capsules at a health store or supermarket.
Black Cherry syrup concentrate (from health stores) will supposedly produce similar results. But I found the taste not to my liking.

Beefy: I think, however, that not climbing is going to be crucial to recovery. As we know, the stresses imparted by climbing are greater than most other activities. And don't ride a bike unless it is a recumbent!

Good link there JJ, simple good advice. It's just a matter of discipline mostly.
