Some of you will remember an american climber Josh Janes, he stayed with me at the pines for a few months a couple of seasons ago. Anyway, Josh was involved in a soloing 'incident' a couple of weeks ago whislt soloing a climb, 'Tagger', a 5.9 in Eldorado canyon, a climb he had run up many a time. Anyway, he slipped and fell from above the roof at about 35 feet, and found himself with a 'difficult' landing situation.
Good news is, he managed to land feet down, without sustaining terminal injuries. After a chopper ride, and a few surgeries to try and put his feet back together, he is up and about, well, mobile in a wheelchair, with positive spirits, and has aspirations to get back on the rock by the end of this comming season, less the soloing!
Josh is a great guy, and I wish him the best with his recoveries. And I'm sure he would love to get some emails from those that know him.
Oh, and dont believe the rumours on RC etc...
And Yes, it does appear, soloing is dangerous... |
