A friend of mine was at a Melbourne climbing gym on Tuesday when a 14 year old boy fell from near the the top of the campus board, and landed *between* two mats on the floor. He received a nasty compound fracture of the tibius, and apparently his screams drowned out the usual sound of pistol fire. My friend has often been concerned about the placement of mats in the bouldering area of this gym; it seems that there are some safety issues to be addressed...
