Dear All, I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the people who help out in the response to my accident at Arapilies last weekend (12-13/11/05)

I was attempting a climb called Pedro and unfortunately my protection failed to hold me in place, I took a lead fall and the 1st piece of gear failed, the 2nd piece of gear failed as well and the rope caught around mt leg, flipped me upside down and smacked my head on the rock face

I coped six stitches in my head, I split a heap of blood all over my gear, my mates gear and the rock face and ko’ed my self for a small period of time.

I required a stay in hospital over night and stitches to my head plus observation over the period of the night to make sure that nothing further happened to me.

I would especially like to thank the off duty nurse (Michelle) and paramedic (tim) who just happened to be in the camp at the time and were first on the scene with regards to any kind of professional help before the ambo’s turned up.

Also I would like to thank all the people who help carry the stretcher down to the road and the awaiting ambulance. I was under the influence of morphine so I must have been mumbling absolute crap at the time but I hoped it gave everyone a laugh.

thanks to all the staff at horsham hospital for once again patching up and looking after another climber who fell of the their rock. Thank you.

Last but not least I would like to thank my mates, ben and damo for getting me out of the shit!!!! You guys rock!!

Apart from a splitting headache on Sunday I am recovering just fine and no long lasting physical effects from the fall accept maybe a few bruises and i nice looking scar on my head

Apologise to anyone who had there weekend disturbed as a result of my accident and hope that they were not inconvenienced.

My pride and confidence has been well and truly dented so I have some work to do along with my ability to place gear. i am very embarrassed about what happened but I will go to great lengths to try to make sure that this does not happen again………ever!!
