Thanks for sharing. I suspect a lot of people who can climb relatively difficult sport routes, and safely clean them, have little to no experience rapping, and that people (myself included) take this for granted when heading out with less experienced partners.
I’d also be interested to understand why the initial fireman’s belay was unsuccessful? Just a function of narrow single rap line + that particular device + climber already accelerating/out of control and lack of friction?
It’s a pretty intimidating place for most climbers, glad to read the outcome wasn’t worse. |
