Many years ago I worked in health insurance. While things may have changed it used to be you would have a certain number of “emergency” ambulance trips covered by your policy, per year. If your ambo ride wasn’t considered an emergency, you’d foot the bill. Many years ago a mate was knocked out at Mt Baw Baw while we were boarding, and was airlifted to hospital. From memory the bill was approx $5500... Ambulance membership costs next to nothing and gives you peace of mind.
