Hey...glad to hear you are both OK. I cllimbed Zurbriggen's about 5 years ago and was also on Cook in 2008 when the Vinar brothers had one of them fall of tragically in 2008...as well as the Japanese guide who was trapped on top of Middle Peak for a week...just goes to show how fickle the mountains can be.

Were you just above the steep shrund at the start of the face proper when struck by the ice??? We had great conditions climbing the 1000m face (mid March) but a lot of crevasses and a huge schrund with near vertical ice for the first 10m or so before it eased off to continuous 50 - 55 degree slopes.

Good to hear that people ar still jumping on Zurbriggen's Ridge...a classic route.
