Anyone interested in doing some mountaineering this winter in New Zealand?
The plan is to arrive in Auckland the 2nd of July
then 5-8th July ascend Mt Tongariro 1968m via East Spur grade 1-, and then Mt Nguaruhoe 2291m via South Crater Route grade 1-.
9-11 Climbing Tuhurangi Peak on Mt Raupheu. staying the night of the 9th at Backpackers, and then on the 10th reaching Turangi Peak 2797m, and 11th on Girdlestone 2658m, and then down and to Ruapehu Hut.
11-13 Either some skiing or try out some routes on Pinnacle Ridge
Anyone interested in joining?

Booked out during that time, so not for me, but don't forget to be flexible enough to work with that beloved NZ weather. It's possible that each of those days you're out there will be a total write off. Best base youself in a hut for a period of time and have a few routes on the cards you can tackle if the weather is kind to you.

Yeah the weather can be heaps unreliable over there. But yeah the plans pretty flexible i think, cos all three mountains are very close to each other, and each of the climbs would take a day or so to complete , so its just a matter of moving around the weather. And trying to make the most of it.
i guess with mountaineering u cant really climb a peak on a schedule, but a plan helps get a general guideline of what can be done.
hopefully the weather will be kind
