From memory the world youth champs are in sydney. Blue mountains are the obvious place to check out and maybe nowra as they are close to Sydney, there are heaps of guides in the blue mountains. but a van, a guide book and a map should get you to the main places without to much problem. If you have time arapiles and the grampians.
