An Aidfest in the Blueys has been considered before but never garnered enough interest to get off the ground, so to speak. Perhaps it was Maccas unbridled enthusiasm to make Dogface the venue that put some potential participants off? Don’t know, but if that was the case then it would have precluded many who have turned up at Buffalo Aidfests in the past as the nature of Dogface lends itself to those already confident in their aiding abilities.
Davedave, maybe start an independent thread for it (rather than having it lost in a Buffalo titled thread for future searches!), and see how you go?
:-)
Once you get some replies you can assess your target audience and cater Blueys venue/s accordingly.
Buffalo is good in that respect because a reasonably wide variety of style and difficulty is close at hand.
From a camping out perspective maybe the Wolgan could be considered too?

?
The Buff aidfests had no link to VCC (SRC equivalent), other than some participants also belonged to that club. It was run as a totally independent and voluntary shared experience get together, rather than a formal thing, and this because each participant was expected to be responsible for their own safety/actions as in normal climbing situations, hopefully offsetting bullsh**ish legal complexities like insurance etc.
;-)
Hmm next bit is taking some posting due alleged suspicious content...
(Edit - Chocky doesn’t like three special characters in a row, eg an exclamation mark, and then a comma after a bracket symbol!)
I’d like to be kept in the loop (another reason for it to have its own thread), but have a buildup on my wish list already with a planned Ozy trip (yeah, Pete and TIm, I haven’t forgotten) plus a couple of equally postponed motorcycle trips with others; and in the covid meantime have been distracted with a house renovation and family members (at a distance), in poor health... so yeah I’m greedy and hoping to have my cake and eat it too! |
