Hi, Don't know if you still need help, but I went up Elbrus back in 2010 (normal route, independently with my brother) and just summited Aconcagua two weeks ago (with an organised group, up the Vacas Valley/False Guanaco route and down the normal route - Vacas valley is beautiful, recommend to go this way if you can). Be happy to try and answer any questions about gear - my email is peiyinlew(at)gmail(dot)com It pains me to say this, but gear is cheapest bought overseas ie mail order, especially mountaineering stuff, as it's really expensive in Oz. My boots were less than half the price what they are in Australia...
