Jono, Kathy and myself spent a very windy and wild day at the Northern Outcrop of the You Yangs on sunday. We tinkered on some of the excellent boulders and did a few routes before the weather really forced us home. This is a great crag in an excellent location.

For the photo techies - these photos are a mix of Velvia100 slide and EOS300D digital. Can you spot the difference? :-)

Could we be seeing a You Yangs resurgence? If the trend continues, at this rate Strauton Vale might be Melbournes next 'super cliff'!
Get to Gravel Pit Tor & Northwestern Outcrop at the You Yangs and youll have a great day of climbing.

BTW, Neil, have you ever sampled a New Zealand beer by the name of Montieth's? Their 'Celtic Red' is a winner. Just wondering if there is any connection

mmm tasty Monteiths. I have noticed they have started stocking it in Ararat's Safeway BottleO. No connection I am afarid. NZ is filled with the Monteith clan (South Island West Coast).

Nice pics... looks a bit chilly though. The true test of a Youies resurgence will be to see how many climbers get out there on the sharp crimpy granite through the Vic winter...
Totally harcore!
...slightly warmer in Sydney... Chris

Climbing in down jackets is scary on granite slabs. I always think I am going to slip off and rip open the jacket and losing all the fluffy feathers...
