Yes, if you find the large cathedral looking arch and step to the right then the start is easy to find. No harder than finding the start to a lot of the routes on Mt. Wellington actually. So worth finding Ruby though, a great days adventure. While you are up there it is worth doing Jezebel too. It's only a one pitch crackish sort of thing beside the old track up to Ruby. You can't miss it.
