Does anyone know how to access other climbing areas in this venue other than The Amphitheatre?
eg. The North Side, Daintrees Cliff, Pyramid Rock, Junction Hole
Any maps, info would be great.
thanks.

All those crags have been banned for at least 10 years.

Werribee Gorge is not actually in the suburb of Werribee - its out on the Western Hwy about 5km from
Bachus Marsh. Full details are in the Chockstone Guide section...

If one was to ignore these bans, anyone know how to access the other areas? are they walkable distance from the amphitheatre? thanks.

PLEASE don't ignore these bans. Werribee is one of the most popular crags near Melbourne. You would
have a lot of pissed climbers if you got the main crag banned. The other crags are plainly obvious from
Falcons Lookout (the normal main Werribee crag).

I went into the north side years ago when it was legal. What a pile! I wouldn't go back even if it was legal.

a pleasant walkand i seem to remember that there had been a major land/cliff slip all the way to the river and the cliff itself was covered in loose pebbles that continually were dislodged while climbing

Sounds like a description of the main 'legal' Werribee Gorge area...

I'm with you Neil
There always seems to be someone who wants to stuff it up for the rest of us.
For the sake what?

i was the access officer at the gorge for a few years, spent a lot of time educating people regarding climbing in that area, the ranger gets real pissed off if people climb out side of the Amphitheature.

No probs.. Doesnt sound like its worth it anyway. Just looking for something 20m + around the area... So does this mean scouting for climbs in the area is illegal?

yes its frowned upon, we used to look around to do stuff and were told by the ranger if they caught any one that they would close down the gorge, this is before the chains and the top of the gorge was fixed up and it was very dangerous, in the olden days (cough) big ears had a huge block above it and we remove it with crowbars and the climbing club worked to make all of the staging areas at the bottom of the climbs. oh how i miss that place......
