On the approach, I knew this was going g to be epic. Armed with my mat and crampons, I walked down the hill from my car to base camp.
It was much taller than the topo suggested. 5 meters in some parts! (I never believed any of that 10-15 Metre bs).
My first climb was the chocky advertised "walking blind". After making it a project, for around 2 minutes, it went. So happy, I nearly tripped over a beer carton left over from the last mountain festival no doubt.
I also tried a couple of other lines there but felt like this environment was too knarly for me. I packed up, took a wee in the creek which improved local water quality, then went to make sure my car hadn't been stolen. I had made the mistake of leaving git unattended for 20 mins.
Overall, don't undertake lightly. This is an unforgiving environment, mainly due to the socio economic problems in the surrounding streets and, like I was, you'll be happy to have survived your adventure.
A lot better then I expected. |
