Yesterday Di and I went out with some friends to check out a place that sounded good in our guide. We had a great day out in our bumbly sort of way. Nothing special in terms of grades but if you live in Bumblydom like we do, you might like to read about it here:

Further to queries about the limestone here in the Alps, as I surmised the amount of polish and how solid the rock is really varies a lot. We had a great half day in sector 2 at Le Ponteil before getting rained off. There was almost no sign of polish and the climbing was great. It's a place we intend going back to; Di has actually stated it's her favourite area so far of the eight different places we've climbed so far. After yesterday we're wishing there was a bit more gabbro about the place, and closer to where we're staying.

If the forecast looks good tonight it's back to the granite of Ailefroide tomorrow and the next day on to some quartzite that gets a good rap.
