I'd agree that approaching Bluff Mountain head on is a good idea, you get a better perspective on the routes. Have done BB in a party of 3, from the Pincham Camp (close to the car park) and also taking in the grand hightops circuit (18Km? of walking) easily in a day, but it was Easter.
